Simonini/McGrath Capture U20 LNYC
2005 Carolina Keelboat Regatta
If you weren't here, you missed a good one. Thirteen U20s convened Friday to rig and practice for this event followed by one terrific tailgate party including Gregg Henning's famous Goombay Smash rummmmmmmm concoction and munchies. Saturday morning started with light breeze but the RC ventured out for the wind to build and we had four relatively long windward/leeward races in good 7 to 12 knots and made it back to the docks at sunset (tired). The traditional BBQ dinner was served that evening and some of us were ready for rest but some partied for many hours (reported and obvious the next morning). Sunday started with light air and continued thru the one long two times around w/l course. Back to the club to pull and pack up and lunch with hotdogs and awards. Daytime temps in the upper 60s were perfect.
Congratulations to Alan Simonini / Bob McGrath / Brad Boston on "Pinnochio" #174 for a commanding victory with 11 points, Eric Vigrass from Port Huron, MI and crew on "Motel 6" BYC boat #130 in second with 15 points, Spike Boston of Point Edward, Ontario and accomplished crew on "Honours" #123 in third with 17 points and Peter & Sylvie Kitching from Ottawa, Ontario on "Low Rider" #184 in fourth place with 24 points.
Thanks to everyone who attended as well as the many who helped it off. Complete results are below.
